Logical Reasoning Questions To Prepare For SBI Exams

Dear Reader,
Below are four model problems on logical reasoning, dealing with rearrangements.

Question 1

The position of how many digits in the number 4798253 will remain unchanged if the digits within the number are written in ascending order from left to right?

a) 2 b) 1 c) 3 d) none of these

Answer : d) none of these

Solution :

Given number is 4798253.

Given order of the digits: 4 7 9 8 2 5 3
After rearranging in ascending order: 2 3 4 5 7 8 9

Therefore, we have no digits in the arrangement remain unchanged.

Hence the answer is option d.

Question 2

The position of first and Eighth digits in the number 72856291 are interchanged. Similarly the position of the second and the seventh digits are interchanged and so on. Which of the following will be the sixth from the right end after the rearrangement?

a) 2 b) 9 c) 6 d) none of these

Answer : a) 2

Solution :

Given number is 72856291.

Given order of the digits: 7 2 8 5 6 2 9 1
The order, after rearranging: 1 9 2 6 5 8 2 7

Therefore, after rearranging, the digit in the 6th place from the right end (that is, 3rd from left end) is 2.

Hence the required answer is option a.

Question 3

The position of how many digits in the number 2639415 will remain unchanged after the digits are rearranged in descending order within the number?

a) 2 b) 1 c) 3 d) none of these

Answer : a) 2

Solution :

The given number is 2639415.

Given order of the digits: 2 6 4 9 4 1 5
After rearranging in descending order: 9 6 5 4 4 2 1

Therefore, we have two digits (that are 6&4, 2nd from left end and 3rd from right end) remain unchanged.

Hence the answer is option a.

Question 4

The position of first and seventh digits in the number are interchanged. Similarly the position of the second and the eighth digits are interchanged and so on. How many of the digits will remain unchanged after the digits getting rearranged?

a) 2 b) 4 c) 1 d) 3

Answer : a) 2

Solution :

Given number is .

Given order of the digits: 3 8 5 4 8 2 6 6 1 9 7 2
The order, after rearranging: 6 6 1 9 7 2 3 8 5 4 8 2

Therefore, we have two digits (that are 2 and 2, 6th and last from the left end) remain unchanged.

Hence the required answer is option a.
